Hi. I have a FB 130 and I can't get it to work with NiMH batteries. It works fine with alkalines. It takes six 1.5v AA = 9V. However, NiMH are 1.2v. I was thinking of replacing the battery pack with one that holds eight AA, which with NiMH would mean 9.6v. Any suggestions as to whether 9.6v is too high?
Usually there's no problem substituting the lower voltage NiMH for alkalines. You might double check that all spring contacts are tight and that the NiMH are all charged right before your use. NiMH lose a great deal of charge each day. The low self discharge type (Eneloops) are by far the best in anything that will sit for awhile before use.
