Wow I never thought I would I would see 45 posts about Roberts. First of all I must say I loved the little perch fishery and I will miss it this year, but many of us know Roberts is an up and down fishery and it will die and come back several times. Just so everyone is aware I am not for or against catfish I just want to look at the history.
1. Roberts has in the past and will again winter kill.
2. As far as catfish taking over well so far history says different:

Now as far as history goes catfish are not a threat, and yes I would not mind deep frying a few, but history also shows how there can be legitmate threats to the bio-mass. I would love to go back in time and pistol whip who ever placed the first carp into the bio-mass, whether it be Chinese, or LDS immigrants who believed it would be a good food source. If you want to see more just You-Tube the Utah Lake Carp Netting piece.
Although this is always a lively debate whether you like it or not if the non-native rainbow takes over the South Fork and the Yellowstone Cutthroat is put under endangered species protection then we have real problems based on decsions from the past.
I see both sides of the argument; I will say I have no tolerance for bucket biology. Its fine by me if Fish and Game designate "catfish" waters, but if someone is caught transporting live fish to a different water to me it should be a felony; with a fine that includes complete cost for the removal of the ivasive species.
You may think this is extreme, but we do it all the time in wildland fire operations. If you start it you pay for the entire cost of supressing it!
Just my two cents.
