At the risk of ticking people off, I'm going to put in a plug for the other side. Since I personally know the "new guy" that your talking about, I think I should stick up for the Fisheries Biologists. People need to take into considerations all of the different ways they are being pulled. Just think of the wide demographic that they have to please. They have to try to keep everybody happy from the billionare who flies in on his private jet to fly fish the ranch in Island Park, to the average joe who wants to go drown some worms and catch whatever at the closest body of water (keep in mind fly fishing vs. bait fishing isn't the issue here, I do and enjoy both). What I'm trying to say is they have to try to please people with a very wide spectrum of opinions about how they should do their job. Then throw into the mix things like the ESA, and all of its implications, and managing and trying to prevent invasive species, all the while with people busting their butts, and telling them how to do their job.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that we live in an amazing area that many people literally come from all across the world to fish, so they must be doing something right, let's give credit where credit is due.
