I have been interested in cats for some time. I can say for a fact that the fish the IDFG get are not going to reproduce in Roberts or anywhere else in eastern Idaho at least not succesfully. I am sure they get them from Leo Ray here in Hagerman. That is where all the cats come from that are planted in this area. Idaho Power plants 20,000 cats per year into Milner, and IDFG plant them into dog cr and Carey lake. For the most part almost NO cats are caught in Milner. I have had some luck with them but the IP biologists are saying there is NO reproduction. They say Milner is too cold to allow reproduction. The cats that are caught are all that years planters. Along with all the cat planted areas here in Region 4 there is just no succesful reproduction.
I would not worry about a bucket biologist. One thing I have seen is where cats are the Bass and Bluegills are a bit bigger. If a pond does not have predators the gills will be stunted and worthless.
I would not worry about them in Roberts, in fact I might come ofer this summer and take some out, one at a time!! [fishin] Ron
