We parked right on highway 40 on the north side of the road, walked down that side follow the trail to the lake watch out about the ice right under the bridge so we walked up on the shore follow the trail. stayed on the ice, not the snow, the snow is where the slush is at. you should see all the holes. the morning was better before the had full a stomach of aquatic bug that are coming out of the mud. hope this helped. the ice is thin so be carefull. good luck.
