STARVATION!!! LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!
#1
I met up with fellow BFT members Sewfish and rustyhook this morning. It seemed like we both pulled up to the bridge at the same time right about 8:30ish. Temps were frigid, the truck thermometer said 8 degrees. Got out onto the ice with a surprising 3-4 inches in most places.(the ice was sketchy towards the middle of the lake) Sewfish got things started right off the bat with a chunky perch. Then rusty started putting the smack down with 3-4 nice ones in a row. Me, well........... nothing for a while. Many holes were drilled, checking depths and trying to find any forms of life on the flasher. Thanks again guys for drillin all those holes. Whatever kind of auger you had seemed to cut the ice like butter with a hot knife. It makes me think about how much more productive I could be while fishing if I got one too. Anyway back to the report. We were fishing near the bridge in about 40-50 feet of water, using spoons tipped with all sorts of bait, including wax worms crawler pieces and maggots were the ones that seemed to be working. I finally iced a 10 inch perch around 10:30 or so and someone flipped the switch and nothing else was pulled out. Fished till about 2:30 and decided to call it a day.

It was still great to not get skunked on my first ever Starvation ice fishing trip. I am glad I went and checked it out. The best part was of coarse meeting some new fishing buddies and sharing stories about past experiences.(GREAT COMPANY) Much to still be explored but I think it was a good start.

NO WALLEYE YET. I think they heard I was going fishing and got the heck out of there.

I would not get too confident and start fishing everywhere on the whole lake. It seemed like it is still in the first stages of freezing over. BE CAREFUL WHOEVER DECIDES TO MAKE THE TRIP
