how do you fish live shad? do you cast and work it in or drop em straight down and jig them or what?

From a boat they are sent straight down with a light weight. No need to jig them. Windy days, anchor, chum the shad that die, fish with the live ones. Calm day, drift using the electric motor to stay over fish. No matter how you use them it is hard to go wrong with live shad.
