I usually use small rooster tails or lazy ikes but lately with the water temperature getting cooler, I've had lots of luck with my fly rod and using dry flies like a #12 royal wulff or small wet flies, streamers and wooly buggers. It seems the fish are slowing down and eating more tiny bugs rather than small bait fish which rooster tails mimic. If you don't have a fly rod tie a small fly or really tiny lure like a 1/65oz spoon on the end of your rooster tail. The rooster tail will allow you to cast further while the tiny lure or fly will trail behind the rooster tail and catch most of the fish.
