Just a side note. A 300 RUM sounds all big and cool but in reality when you look into the ballistics of it and compare to my "little" 7 WSM shooting very heavy, high B.C. bullets to a 300 RUM shooting a pretty good B.C. Berger 210 VLD bullet at 3050 fps at 1000 yards the RUM has only 150 ft/lb of energy more and is actually traveling a tad slower than my 7mm.

So with 20 grains more powder and less barrel life you could shoot the RUM. Not worth the small advantage, not to mention the recoil.
