May I offer a suggestion? Buy your NFO boat from Cabela's and then you can COUNT on their supreme customer service! They are one of the best I've dealt with when it comes to resolving problems with ANY product they sell. They are NFO's largest customer and believe me NFO answers the phone when it's them calling!
I know Dave personally and consider him a valuable resource and friend when it comes to fishing and the outdoors in general. Though the marketing and the reputation may make it seem as if NFO is a large company that might not focus on customer service, I assure you thats not the case. Dave is running a small business and like so many entrepreneurs, he is often the head chief AND bottle washer. He spends a great deal of his time traveling to outdoors shows and promoting his product line. If he's hard to get ahold of it's because he's very busy. He has a couple of dedicated guys working for him and assembling the various components of the boats.
I am surprised to hear that people would actually expect that NFO "manufactures" the components themselves. That would be crazy! They design and engineer the parts and then have them produced by companies that specialize in those processes. It would be very difficult for one company to own and operate all of the specialized equipment it would take to actually manufacture the components in house. Most companies run that way. (Look at the auto industry for example, it's all assembly at those factories).
I've owned a couple of the NFO boats and would not hesitate to buy another if I were in the market.
