Nice story, glad you got your bull. This bit of info may help on an animal that you have to leave in the woods over night. Take off a piece of your clothing, say a t-shirt and let it lay on the carcass and take a whiz on the ground nearby if you can. It will keep the coyotes away, I'm not sure about bear but it works on the coyotes. I've used this tactic several times and have never lost any meat. The birds (magpies etc.)may hit the meat if it is left too long during daylight hours.
