Jetsled,
Never say "this is probably a dumb question" to a retired teacher!!!!! When I was speaking of fishing the confluence, I was talking about the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater rivers. They meet in Lewiston. This is the end of the barge traffic that runs up from Portland. Lewiston is the most inland seaport in the nation. You can use most any kind of boat here, in that the water ranges between about 16' and 35'. Fish tend to congregate here waiting for cooler river temps. Often A-run steelhead will head up the cooler Clearwater until the Snake cools down. When I mentioned the confluence of the Snake and Salmon being red hot fishing, I was talking about a spot quite a few miles upriver--south--of Lewiston. This cannot be reached by car and you would need a good jet boat to get there, along with a knowledge of the river. Hope that helps. Mike
