I thought it might be good to clue in new readers the benifit of yarn over yarn balls. aside from what you already mentioned
1. Yarn dosnt have the core of a yarn ball
2. If your hook is floating to low on the river bottom you can add more yarn to it to get the boyancy up to keep the hook from grabbing up stones and in the case of michigan waters away from zebra mussles.
them peskey mussles grab a hold of hooks like vices.
