If you want something that's smooth and very castable, go with the Abu.
If you want something that's powerful and heavily built, but still castable, go with the Penn.
Personally, i'd go with a penn, just because. I have both, and both have thier place. For what you're talking about, I like penn. And, i'd probably use a spinning reel, not a BC reel.
