Your probably right. I was up above them looking down. I'm pretty sure they saw me. The sun was out and the water was crystal clear. I'm going back to that spot tomorrow. This time I'll be approaching it from farther upstream, by letting my bait float down with the current. We had some good rain last night, so the water should be higher and not as clear.
