I'm Out (Knolls Trip)

[cool][#0000ff]The best time to go fishing is whenever you can get away. But, there are a few personal guidelines I go by.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Most of the time, on most waters, for most species, I prefer to fish after two days of stable weather. That gives the fish a chance to settle down after a front goes through.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]As we have all experienced, sometimes the fish really turn on just before a front goes through or just as it starts raining. But, once the front goes through many species shut off for a while.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Walleyes, white bass and a few other fish are sometimes most active and bite best when the weather is a bit sloppy. In fact the best place and time to fish for some fish is right on the windward shoreline when the wind has made a "mudline". Predators with good vision or sensitive lateral lines sometimes feed aggressively when their prey is tumbled and blinded in the wind driven waves and muddy water.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]All that being said, I prefer to fish when it is calm because most of my fishing is finesse fishing...light tackle and small jigs. It is difficult to maintain "touch" when my tube is blown by the wind or there is a bow in my line. When the wind comes up enough that I can't hold position or feel what is going on at the other end of my line, I am through fishing.[/#0000ff]
