As the weather continues to get colder and the days shorter the fishing will continue to get better. If you have a boat the easiest way to catch fish for people new to using a flyrod is to troll for them.
Get Bill Schiess book so you know where the holes are this time of year. Then get a sinking line. I like using a type III or IV for trolling. Troll the flies way behind the boat and very slow. Sweep the rod tip forward a few inches as the boat trolls. This will give the fly more action and is easier to learn than stripping.
If there is any wind set your boat up at the top of the hole and just drift your flies throught the hole and then run to the top again.
