Definitely possible. I make sure I have a snug setting and have to work to squeeze the clip closed to get a good preload like what FG does. I wonder if instead of a nylon web a bungee web would help? A little mat of raw neoprene under the base would also definitely add to the stiction to prevent movement, like the dashboard phone mats you can buy...
