Decided to take advantage of the weather and do a little fishing. Arrived at Floyd Lamb about 6:30am. Hit the lowest pond to target some bass. Had 5 Bass landed by 8am. All were under a pound except 1. I think he was about 2lbs but boy he put on a fight!! I was using 6lb test fluoro and I thought he was going to snap it for sure the way he was running... I also gill hooked one of the smaller ones really bad. He bled out in about 1 min flat [:/]. Pulled him out of the water and it looked like I had slit his throat... I was pretty bummed about that so I ended up just giving him to one of the catfish anglers on the top pond. They threw him in the cooler and said they would eat him. About 8:30 I started to see some bluegill so I took out my panfish pole and had a blast with them. Caught about 15. Thats about it for my fishing day.. I was home by 10 am. Here are some pics.
Also on a side note.. I have been noticing that the Bass in the pond really really stick to the 3 small cover spots they have in this pond( they are like really small trimmed tree stumps)..I really think the ponds would benefit a Huge amount from some extra cover for these fish... Do you guys think its worth trying to contact the park service to see if we can get some cover thrown in there? These bass have no place to hide out and I think it really affects the size and amount of fish that are caught there..
I think Floyd lamb has the potential to be a really good bass fishery if they would just dump some damn trees in these empty water holes!
