PA here and really pends on where im fishing at. Usually lakes/ponds good ole Orange sparkle power bait works the best for me. I have caught limit (5)with that stuff within 30 to 45mins many times over. In the creeks and streams I like to use wax worms over night crawlers. I find they love the wax worms but so does many other fish. sometimes use roosters and if its a deep enough hole i will use a minnow crankbait. Ive caught alot of trout on that over the rooster.
Many people on the streams use minnows but i find the wax worms work the best. Its been a cool summer and they are still biteing even now on waxworms in the streams here. Went chub fishing for some pike bait and caught 2 brownies in a hour on the wax worm about 5 days ago.
