when do you say its time to quit fishing bass tournaments and just fun fish

i would say that its best to go with what your gut is telling you. but i realy wouldnt know ive never fished in tournaments infact im looking to get in to them and i know nothing about them so i was wondering if you could tell me info about tournaments please, thanks
