yes it a draw bridge,we have many of them in ct.
amtrack has been in the process of replaceing all the bridges in conn.for the past few years now,starting withe the ones in bad shape,then going to the oldest.
to locate on the other side wouldnt work,for a number of reasons.one is there is no access to board onto the boat,another is it would be out in the open.where they are they are protected fron wind,waves and all around bad weather.
i fish down near the bridge,i spend 4-5 hours there when i go.in that time the bridge goes up and down atleast 50+ times.it is amazing that a 100 year old bridge doesnt break more often.i got to give amtrack credit for there maintance program
