Hang in there, I started off last summer that way, I was new to UT and I think I was hitting the right places at the wrong times. I am starting to learn to hit certain lakes during certain months and it has really helped me out. That sucks about the ocean trip, how long was the charter, I know you used to be able to get into them on a half day, these days 3/4 to multiple days is the ticket.
If your worried that you pissed off the fish gods, next time your at the lake....smear a little power bait on your forehead, kinda like the dot on Buddha's forehead. Red works best! I hear that is a sure fire way to get back on their good side.[
