depends what you want to fish for....
I like to bass fish and i have got some healthy fish on just night crawlers. If you go straight across the lake from the boat ramp to the south side you will find lots of fish within 50 ft off shore.
I was out there last weekend with my wife and a friend and his wife. The ladies were using night crawlers and pulled in bass, perch, trout and even a sucker fish. I was fishing some soft plastics and managed to pull in a lot of perch and 2 decent bass but the live bait was definetely winning.

p.s. since your in a float tube you might also try just down from the boat ramp near the floating dock back in that little cove. i have seen people pull everything out of there and its easier then going across the lake
