Pretty much all the rods built in the last 20 years have stainless or Fuji guides on them which are rust resistant. Reel seats are not - so they need to be washed/wiped with WD40 or LPS1. Too many times, I have seen saltwater impregnation into reel levelwinds because not enough lithium grease was used.

Today's equipment is far better than that made 50 years ago when I first started fishing.
