1. Live bait is the most effective.. always. Some will argue it increases the rate of fish mortality... but it works.

8lb. test Trilene line

3. I recommend Mepps spinners (lure) to everyone... they are easy to fish with and they work.

If you are using live bait get some hooks that come pre-attached to fluorocarbon line and use those for minnows/worms/leeches.
