new to saltwater fishing.

im getting ready to get into saltwater fishing, I need a new rod, so I was wondering, if I got a saltwater rod, could I also use it for freshwater. I've been told that you cant really use freshwater rods for saltwater because of corrosion, but how about saltwater poles in freshwater. id like to have 1 that can do both.
