Welcome to BFT Feeshaman. My suggestion seeing as you don't say how big a fish your going for would be a 7ft rod, med-med/heavy. A 2000 series reel that will take 12 lb line. I have had good luck with P-Line brand fishing line and Shimano is my favorite brand of rod and reels.
