Don't count out walley's on crank baits, planer boards are used for eyes all the time. A lot of the time the walleye's are in 10 ft or less of water. If that's the case and you're running a gas kicker motor a planer board is a very useful tool for them. I'm with the other posts on using bouncers and planer boards. You can do it but it's not something I'd personally do.
