Went fishing below the dam on 5/30/09 from about 7p to 9p and fishing didn't pick up until about 8:30. Caught a 11.5 inch small-mouth bass and a sucker fish. Fishing buddy also caught a small-mounth. Water was a little high and alot of carp and sucker fish trolling the shore. I was on the side with the boat launch.
I must say that the state of the area was very trashed. Every fishing hole had trash (not just th ocassional worm container but wrappers and bags, etc). This is the worst I have seen it. Seems like this memorial day was the most crowded I have seen it with tents in every nook and crany. I don't think I would want to camp somewhere where people have to walk through my camp to get around. Maybe it is time for the city to start charging for people to camp down there. It would sure help fund the upkeep.
