Hi Outlaw, I disagree with the turning the reel over deal to face the water, just concentrate on the feel of the line going out. 1) don't try to cast to far (overpower) 2) good line, old stuff curls and birdnests. 3) pay attention to the wind, casting one way and then casting into the wind will slow the baits travel and birdsnest. 4. smooth stroke on the cast, no 'snap' in the cast. 5) get used to the term "birdsnest".
