Hey wormsinker, I say go for it thats a nice rod and you did used it for steelhead this season right? Kings are like a big steelhead with a big bur in their 
dle when hooked. If you are use to your lamiglass stick with it. If you remember earlier this steelie season I swithched rods and I didn't want to do it because I was use to my old rod (a M/H Ugly stick) I used to land plenty of Kings. It was against my better judgement to switch but I did for more sensative steelhead and it payed off. I may still use my Ugly Stick for Kings but now I'm use to my new 8"6 Shimano so the struggle continues[crazy]
Stick with what you know and the rod you describe is plenty to handle those Kings.
