I don't take pics of flies usually, but here's some photography tips. Try not putting the camera so close to the subject. Make sure the pic itself is in focus. With digital images you don't need to be right on top of them. If you do that, then just crop the image to cut out the extra stuff around the fly you should be fine. Also use a background that contrasts with the color of the fly. White, cream for dark colors, black for light colors, etc. Also if you use the flash it will often help on the macro shots. Speaking of which, if your camera has a macro mode on it, use that. It's specifically for taking closeup shots of things like flowers, bugs and flies[]
