If the river is high, but fairly clear, I'll still fish it. I agree you can hook into a lot of big fish, but it can be tough landing them when the jump into the current and head downstream. Once the river is brown and murky, I usually try for lakes. Hopefully they'll pick up soon, because so far I haven't been blown away this year. I also keep my eye on any tailwater stretches that may have lower flows. Additionally, some of the smaller tributaries will clear up sooner, and some of the streams have a lower elevation source than others and will clear up sooner as well.
