If you are looking for trophy fish ... west memphis for the catfish.
IF bass just refer to the last post. Most of the lunker bass you are going to get in tennessee are in private owned ponds.
Not STOCKED... just private property so you will need permission and most will give it to you, especially if you are on a fishing trip traveling.
locals always get the "needed" signed card from the property owner that states that you are allowed to fish his property with 1 friend.
in Arkansas even if the pond or lake is stocked with game and fish commission fry you still need that to show the game warden or he can take your tackle and give you a ticket until you prove you have permission.
Arkansas is kinda weird so be careful here.
I know the three local game wardens now but 4 years ago i was fishing what we call "Gillis's ponds" it's private property stocked with blue cats and bass by the state in 1992 and I didn't have the PAPERWORK and he took all three of my poles and two tackle boxes (900$ worth of gear) I had to go to court to get them back and have the land owner show up and tell the judge he gave me permission to be on his property and fish.
So always ask before you fish a pond in Arkansas.
Most of the rivers in the NW are public so just get a out of state license..
Make sure you have a license in Arkansas!!!!! we are the duck hunting capitol of the world and have more game wardens running around than any state.
and trust me you will see one while crossing our state.
Good luck and have fun on your trip!
