I did no research but in that news clip I posted on the man who swam the amazon it specifically said he coated his wet suit with gasoline and a lotion and I can only presume that was to mask his scent.. it also said his assist boat would dump bits of fish etc and blood on the far side of the boat away from him to keep these little predators busy ..

Im not the expert by any means.. but I am finding this discussion very informative...
