SF Snake 4-13 and 4-14
#1
I finally ventured out to the South Fork again. I had been staying away because the water is so much higher than anything I have ever fished in my life before. Also the crazy flows usually put fish down for a while until they stabilize again. Well I figured I could at least find a few hungry fish that wanted to play so I headed out after work.

Yesterday I drove around for about an hour looking for water I could fish. Found one big spinning hole and stripped a big streamer through it. Got one hit but missed it then I moved on. Drove for about another half an hour or so and finally found a promising looking run. Nothing at first on the big streamer so I changed to my other rod and used a wooly bugger. Fish started hitting like crazy, mostly little ones though so I could set the hook fast enough. Those little guys strike so fast. I managed to pull out a little cutt (12") and a fatty bow (14"). I would have stayed later but had to take off because thunderstorms were heading in fast. I decided I would come back today and try my luck.

Today I got to the same spot around 6:00 PM or so. Threw out and pulled out a couple cutts and a rainbow. I missed a few other hits as well. All of them were about 12". I got cold and decided I would try to find another spot. I drove down to the Lorenzo boat ramp and the water was really high. I couldn't drive to the ramp because the water had made a little channel through those dips that you have to go through. I climbed across the wooden fencing and made it to the river. I threw out the wooly bugger for a while and managed to get one nice hit but didn't get the hook set. I decided I would switch to a different streamer that would be a little more visible in the nasty water. A 16" brown decided to hit it and gave me a good run. Overall I've had a good couple of days considering how crazy the water has been. Nothing huge but still an awesome time.
