I've been using weighted, but I've also been tying up some unweighted ones to try out a new idea when the salmonflies start hatching.
I agree with you chrome junky, they are one of my favorite go to flies. I think it's because of the life history of salmonflies, they live as nymphs for a couple years before hatching so there are always at least good size salmonfly nymphs in the river, so the fish almost always recognize them as food.
