Good first baitcaster for bass
#28
Thanks for the info.
Indeed you can. In fact, I picked up another Chronarch MG from Tackle Warehouse for $186 about a month and a half ago. Looks like they still have a few of the 51mg's (left handed) in stock.
I like that place...no sales tax and free shipping (even on rods) & prices as good or better than BassPro or Cabelas.

As far as the differences, looks like you give up about 5 yards of line capacity on the Chronarch, and the Core has 7.1.1 gear ratio as opposed to the 6.2.1 for the Chronarch.

From what I can tell they both have the same anti rust features (I had one of my Chronarchs out on the salt water for about a week recently. When I got home I tore it apart and it still looks brand new. I rinsed it every day when I got off the water, but that was all the maintenance I did when I was down there).
I still want a Core...but $379...ouch.

I have my Chronarchs on St. Croix Avid series rods in 6'6" and 7', and primarily use them for casting weightless Senkos, light jigs, or small top water lures.
Pretty sweet package though...the whole rig weighs less than 10 ounces. Ton of fun on big bass.
