We have a few lakes that the big boys (or walleye) go deep. Fly line maxing out at 90' is kind of limited. And that would be 90' if it went straight down which is unlikely. So it makes allot of sense to have one reel spooled up with mono. I still put backing on because it would take ALLOT to spool a fly reel.
