Windriver, If the fish aren't hitting those leeches, which does happen or we would all be having hundred fish days, then try the deep nymph.
I have said it before, I have caught my biggest fish on small flies. .
Just me but I don't find deep nymphing/chironomid any slower than any other type of fishing. The difference as you said you are moving.
They both have their HOT moments. Plus fish feed on Chironomids year round, not true with leeches.
Just got to try it...you will like it.
