I love fly fishing still water. I never use a floating line. I always throw some sort of streamer. Even when fish are rising. Just throw a streamer, with sinking line, but don't let it sink at all. We know the fish are feeding near the surface when they are rising, so pull a streamer through their zone and you will hook up quite often. When they are not rising, let the fly sink down to their zone. Hint...if you have been to any of the small lakes in the uintas in the evenings, you see a LOT of fish rising. Get in a float tube and throw streamers just under the surface. It is FAST action. But no big fish. That is just my $.02
