Hi there Monsterbrowns. I have had Sharkskin for almost a year now. It is the most wonderful line out on the market in my opinion.
I have Selective Trout, Windcutter II, Rigeline, Gold, Sylk, Accelerator, plus Orvis Long Belly, Hi-Flote and Superfine. While all are killer lines, I would chuck them all right now! I bought the SS GPX 5weight. I bought the GPX over the Trout as it can do more. The Trout is limiting, where GPX (General Purpose) does it all.
The line will out last all others by YEARS! It does make a noise through the guides but I really like it now. I fish it for hours and at least twice a week. No bloody fingers, no Raw fingers, my guides are just fine, in fact there has been studies done that the better rods, better guides show no signs.
It casts with ease and DOES add distance to even a beginner. NO line memory. Great in the cold and the hot weather.
You won't be sorry!!! I just got to save up and get me a 4 and a 6 weight.
No HYPE it is the real thing...you can tell from my list of lines, I like the best.
SINKING TIP? no not here, not even close, the line is designed to flote hi and it does just that even in tail waters.
