Flipped a Fish Cat 4 last weekend
#28
Thank you for the explanation forgivin.
I have 3 Fish Cat#4 float tubes (2 for grandsons) as well as a Fat Cat. I purchased the Fat Cat out of concern for my weight gain to 220 In testing the 4s I had done everything I could think of to replicate possible problems on the water. In shallow water, good bottom, I first let the air out of one bladder, then both bladders. There is still plenty of boyancy from the seat foam to float a person without a PFD although we wear them.
I also accidently hooked a bladder with a trebble hook and of course had a slow leak. I went and got the hose off the hand pump, stuck it in the valve and left it there. When the bladder felt a bit soft, a couple puffs of air quickly brought it back. The bladders are also easy to patch.
From reading past posts on this board, I'm pretty comfortable, thinking that I am one of the very few that think the Fish Cat #4 is a much more user friendly tool than the Fat Cat.
With all this said, If I was more comfortable in a round tube, that is exactly what I would be using.
I envy your having a fishery to use the tube in without ice. lol
If you should happen to be in Illinois this summer and see an ole feller in fairly shallow water working to flip a Fish Cat #4 forward, that might be me. lol Illinoisgiller
