I can understand it if your killing them or have them on a stringer or have none alive and have your limit. It would be a problem hurting one bad and then having 7 fish. I was relating more to the live well. If I had my limit and was to hook one badly, it would be no problem to take one out of the live well and put it back and keep the wounded one. When I bank or wade fish, I stop at my limit because of the stringer issue that I believe hurts the gills of the fish. A boat with live wells I think should be a little different in the rules.
