For those who forgot already what open water looks like, you can remind yourself by checking out Utah Lake, north of Lindon Harbor. It is pretty much open from the Dump Ditch, along the shoreline up to the Treatment Plant inflow. Access is pretty limited, lots of walking, but it is open for 100 yds or so out for almost a mile or so.. Lots of water is coming in from the Dump Ditch right now, so it is getting a good supply of "warm water". Get a good NorEaster and it could start the process on the main lake. Won't do anything for the harbors though. March 17 is the traditional day. It will be a show this year due to the thickness of the ice, when the wind starts taking it off. Bet we'll see piles upward of 30ft. or more.
