Back in the day, we used to fish it all over. Dam, middle, upper end, it was all good when there was enough water to carry over the fish. Sometimes we would catch them in shallow water on top water baits, sometimes vertical jigging in deep water, just doing whatever worked. Now that the Crappie have been re-established, it should be even more fun. We used to take our float tubes down to the dam and just fish a loop across the dam, down the shore line about 1/4 of a mile, paddle across the lake to the other side (which isn't that far), then fish back to the dam again. 50-100 fish evenings (or mornings) were not un-common. The main problem was that most of the bass (rarely caught anything else) were between 10 -11 3/4 inches. Still.....it was a lot of fun. It did catch a crappie that was about 13 inches once. I released it hoping to help with the propagation of the species, but shortly after that the lake went dry.[frown] You can be sure I'll be giving it another try this spring. From my experience the fishing usually starts picking up there around the beginning of April.
