I'm in Meridian and fish mostly for bass.
I'm the president of the Gem State Hookers Bass Club and we fish SW Idaho and Oregon waters for our tournaments. We are a small club and are always looking for new members. In fact, one of our members is looking for a non-boater to fish with him this year. It's a good way to learn how to catch bass.
I'm anxiously waiting for the weather to warm up so I can get out there and catch some bass. Probably hit some of the small ponds around here as soon as they warm up.
Also get out and do a little whistle pig hunting shortly.
Hey a Bass Master!
I am familer with the Gem State Hookers. I tournament fished with Intermountain Bass Anglers for 15 years in the 80's & 90's. I fished with Joe Hoffman, Doug Jenkins, John Robertson, Jerry Roberts and that bunch. You might know one or two of 'em.
I would recommend being a "non-boater" to any of you who have not done it. It taught me a ton about bass fishing and made me a better all around fisherman.
Plus you make some pretty good friends.
I kinda got burnt out on it after 15 years and now mostly fly fish but & do go out with a bassin' buddy now and again and sore lip a few toads!
