Your tension is set too tight or your lure is not heavy enough for a baitcaster. Back off the spool nut a little bit or put on heavier bait. Try that and let us know what you get. Be careful not to back it off too much or you will be re-spooling your reel. Do a tiny amount at a time. You will figure it out in time.[
