My wife was born and raised in Brazil, a tropical country. Even though she has gone fishing with me for many years and loved it, she was always afraid of ice fishing. She thought it would be too cold and "too dangerous" (falling through the ice). Then I finally convinced her to go with me by showing her a limit of big trout from Scofield on the day after Thanksgiving a few years back. That tempted her, she went, and she was converted. Since then, she's been as enthusiastic about ice fishing as I am. She had go to to learn that it wasn't so bad as she imagined and that it was a lot more fun than she imagined. Of course, it has also helped to outfit her with warm boots, snow pants, a furry hat, gloves, etc. Being comfortable on the ice isn't that difficult when you're prepared. Now if I could just figure out some way to get her to pull the sled. It's a lot heavier now than it used to be.
